Textile Production Process Management — Enterprise System Modernization

Team Leader @ Unisoft Limited Company

Situation

The project involved a mature enterprise manufacturing environment with complex business processes and an established legacy system. The delivery team faced several coordination and requirements challenges:

  • Ambiguous or incomplete requirements.
  • BA/design specification issues.
  • Differences between BA documentation and development interpretation.
  • Translation and alignment gaps in Japanese enterprise specifications.
  • Development bottlenecks and blocked dependencies.
  • Tight delivery schedules.
  • The need to coordinate a 20–25 person team while maintaining delivery progress.
  • The need to prioritize work while minimizing unnecessary overtime for team members.

Task

Support the modernization and continued development of a legacy textile production-process management system used within a long-established Japanese manufacturing enterprise. The system supported complex multi-stage production workflows, material tracking, and operational management across Japanese manufacturing plants.

Solution

Provided Team Leadership and BA/design coordination for the development and modernization of the textile production-process management system. The work focused on:

  • Reviewing BA designs and requirements.
  • Clarifying ambiguous requirements with the PM.
  • Prioritizing tasks based on delivery schedules.
  • Identifying and resolving development bottlenecks.
  • Managing team dependencies.
  • Coordinating implementation across the development team.
  • Reporting progress and risks to Project Managers.
  • Supporting a complex SQL Server-based enterprise application.

Contribution

As Team Leader, my primary responsibility was coordinating the engineering team and ensuring that requirements, design, implementation, and delivery remained aligned. I:

  • Managed tasks and schedules for a 20–25 person team.
  • Reviewed BA design documents.
  • Identified unclear or incomplete requirements.
  • Clarified requirements with Project Managers.
  • Reviewed design issues against development requirements.
  • Identified development bottlenecks.
  • Resolved or escalated blocked dependencies.
  • Prioritized work according to project deadlines.
  • Coordinated development activities across team members.
  • Monitored delivery risks.
  • Reported progress and issues regularly to Project Managers.
  • Worked with SQL Server stored procedures and enterprise database logic where required.
  • Helped reduce unnecessary overtime by prioritizing and organizing work effectively.

Technologies

  • Languages: SQL
  • Database: Microsoft SQL Server
  • Backend / Business Logic: SQL Server Stored Procedures
  • Infrastructure: Windows Server, On-Premise Enterprise Infrastructure
  • DevOps / Source Control: SVN
  • Documentation / Analysis: Microsoft Excel, BA Requirement Specifications, Japanese Enterprise Design Documentation
  • Domain: Textile Manufacturing, Production Process Management, Material Tracking, Enterprise Manufacturing Operations

Results

  • Improved requirement clarity between BA, development, and project management.
  • Helped resolve development bottlenecks and unblock team dependencies.
  • Improved alignment between BA design documents and implementation activities.
  • Supported the team in meeting delivery deadlines.
  • Provided structured task and schedule management for a 20–25 person team.
  • Improved visibility of project risks and delivery issues through regular PM reporting.
  • Helped manage team workload with the goal of minimizing unnecessary overtime.
